From passion to purpose: simplifying fundraising for sports clubs
Founded by grassroots sports enthusiasts, PitchIn Platform began with a simple observation: managing fundraising activities for sports clubs was far more overwhelming than it should be.
As lifelong participants in community sports, we understood the passion that fuels these clubs, but we were surprised to see how much of that energy was drained by the administrative burden of fundraising.
Determined to make it easier, we created a platform designed to simplify and streamline the process, starting with a single cricket club. Our goal was clear: to reduce the administrative load and free up volunteer time.
The impact of our platform was immediate, helping the club achieve its annual fundraising goals in just a few months while spending significantly less time doing it. Word spread quickly, and soon, other clubs were asking to use the platform as well. It became clear that this wasn’t just a problem for one club or one sport—it was a widespread issue affecting clubs everywhere.
As a result, our mission grew, and we set out to make fundraising easier for grassroots sports clubs across the board.
Our mission
Helping clubs raise more funds while reducing how much time volunteers spend doing it. We want to stop the decline of local clubs and institutions, ensuring they continue to serve communities, nurture young talent and provide the next generation with the same opportunities we enjoyed.
Alex
Alex owes a lot to grassroots organisations, and is unable to remember a time he wasn’t involved in sport. Although cricket has been his passion from a very early age, he has tried most sports along the way, from disc golf to kickboxing. When it became apparent he was never going to open the batting for England, he embarked on a career in software. For the last ten years he has been delivering projects for the largest retail brands in the world.
Matt
Matt has been involved in grassroots sports for over 20 years and, whilst running Basketball clubs, seen first-hand just how hard it is to raise funds to pay for the club’s essentials. Whilst Alex was coming to the realisation he would not open the batting for England, Matt had already long since realised that he wouldn’t be making the NBA and has been developing and delivering complex software from simulation systems to web apps ever since.
